Germaine McCarthy

With well over a decade’s singing teaching experience combined with her expertise in the field of clinical voice therapy, Germaine brings to the table an array of highly specialised skills. Germaine gained clinical experience working as a voice therapist at the renowned Voice Medicine Australia (sister practice of the Melbourne Voice Analysis Centre) from 2019-2022, and she currently works with laryngectomy patients with the innovative voice technology firm Laronix. Germaine is one of only a small handful of singing teachers in Melbourne who work concurrently in the field of clinical voice therapy.

Alongside being a professional singer and performer, Germaine combines her knowledge of optimal singing technique with the principles of clinical voice therapy to help her clients achieve the maximum power, endurance & agility of their singing voices, with an emphasis on maintaining optimal vocal health and function.

This makes Germaine the ideal singing teacher for singers with complex vocal needs, such a professional singers, singers with a history of voice difficulties or voice disorders (eg: vocal fold pathologies, muscle tension dysphonia), or singers who deal with conditions such as asthma, allergies, reflux etc.

As well as enjoying a full time career in singing teaching and speech pathology, Germaine performs regularly with bands Women of Soul and Heatwave. Germaine’s performing career has seen her perform at prestigious venues and festivals such as Byron Bay Bluesfest, The Corner Hotel, Federation Square, and The Forum Theatre. Check out Germaine’s performances below!

Emma Jury

•Passionate about fostering musical creativity in her students

Emma is a highly skilled vocalist and pianist, with over seven years experience performing in Melbourne’s live music scene. Emma is currently completing her final year of a Bachelor of Music (Jazz & Improvisation - Voice) at the Victorian College of the Arts. 

Emma has built a wealth of teaching experience over the past six years and currently teaches both singing and piano at Lilydale High School, as well as her own private teaching from her home studio. She is currently the lead powerhouse vocalist in her bands Cleo Leo and Riff Magnet. 

Emma has a passion for helping aspiring singers develop their singing technique, musicality and confidence in performing. Emma is also passionate about nurturing musical creativity within her students, helping them to explore their artistic expression through improvisation, songwriting, and the development of their own unique style. She is also highly experienced in teaching music theory and can guide her students through AMEB coursework and exams if they choose to. Emma’s warm and nurturing personality combined with her talent and expertise in singing and performing makes her an ideal voice teacher for singers of all ages and abilities.

Laura Wilcox

  • Highly trained Musical Theatre performer

  • Passionate about helping young & beginner singers nurture their love of the performing arts

Laura discovered her passion for singing and drama during her primary school years. Possessing a love for musical theatre, Laura has played lead roles in Grease, Annie, Fame, Seussical the Musical and Catch Me If You Can. In 2016 Laura was nominated for ‘Best Junior Female in a Leading Role’ by the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria for her portrayal of Oolie/Donna for her high school’s production of City of Angels. She recently performed in the Australian premiere of the musical ‘Alice By Heart’.

Laura commenced her teaching career in 2018 at Wendy Samantha Productions in Balwyn, teaching children’s drama classes. Laura has taught group singing classes and private singing lessons at Sing Space since 2019; she prides herself on making her classes fun & engaging whilst teaching foundational singing technique and performance skills, creating an enriching learning experience for her students as they discover the joy of singing.

Having been a Sing Space student since 2014, Laura is excited to combine her exceptional singing talent, vibrant nature and enthusiasm for teaching to help her students maximise their vocal abilities.
